MARTIN GANGL is a contemporary spirits label that merges traditional distillation with a bold, forward-facing aesthetic. With a range of over 20 high-quality products ranging from classic gin to experimental varieties like blood orange, banana schnaps to peppermint liqueur the brand embodies a new generation of craftsmanship: refined, uncompromising, and distinctly different.
Concept
The concept behind the MARTIN GANGL brand draws from contrast: between tradition and bold reinterpretation, structure and freedom, clarity and intensity. While the products follow a philosophy of precise, high-quality distillation, the design deliberately breaks expectations offering a visual language that’s both controlled and confident.
The modular logo system establishes a strong graphic presence, while the materiality and finish of the packaging elevate the tactile experience. Each design decision reflects the essence of the product: distinct, vibrant, unapologetic. The identity aims to position MARTIN GANGL not only as a producer of fine spirits, but as a brand that redefines how premium distillates can look, feel, and communicate.

Visual language
The MARTIN GANGL identity is driven by a tension between graphic control and bold visual impact. The central element is a modular logotype arranged within a strict square grid: »MAR / TIN / GAN / GL«. Each syllable of the founder’s name is broken across four lines, forming a typographic structure that’s both systematic and expressive.
Applied in metallic foil, the logo becomes the focal point of the label reflecting light, depth, and a sense of precision. The underlying gloss varnish features a magnified outline of the logo, repeated subtly across the background to create a layered texture that reveals itself in motion and light.
The overall layout is based on a minimalist grid. The fruit or botanical variety appears in uppercase sans serif at the lower left, paired with details such as volume, alcohol content, and origin. This structured setup ensures consistency while allowing the typography to remain legible and elegant at all times.
The color palette is deliberately reduced: white labels, black type, and a warm copper-orange foil. This creates a clean, elevated appearance that highlights the liquid and supports brand differentiation. The orange tone connects visually to the GANGL wine series, while asserting its own, more experimental spirit identity.
The result is a design system that celebrates clarity, material quality, and strong visual rhythm perfectly aligned with the bold, unexpected character of the products themselves.
